Student Volunteers to Provide Free Tax Assistance

Franciscan University of Steubenville accounting students continue more than a quarter-century long tradition of assisting Ohio Valley residents with their income tax forms.

From February 18, 2014, to April 12, 2014, students will offer free e-filing assistance to local tax filers at a help site located between Quiznos and the Payless ShoeSource store in Fort Steuben Mall. The students have completed an income tax course and passed an IRS training course through the Volunteer Income Tax Asssistance program (VITA). Students will prepare forms 1040EZ, 1040A, 1040 schedules A, B, and D, and forms for calculating education, dependent care, and earned-income credits. The free assistance is available to taxpayers with an income up to $52,000.

The tax assistance site will be open:

  • Monday 3:00 – 6:00 pm
  • Tuesday 2:30 – 4:30 pm
  • Wednesday 3:00 – 5:00 pm
  • Thursday 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, 2:30 – 6:30 pm
  • Friday 3:00 – 5:00 pm
  • Saturday 12:00 – 4:00 pm
